Patti LuPone is a Grammy, Tony, and Olivier Award-winning actress whose work has appeared on stage, film, and television. LuPone is currently starring in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Hollywood. She has appeared on hit television shows including American Horror Story: Coven, 30 Rock, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Girls, Glee, Law & Order, Life Goes On, Oz, Pose, The Simpsons, Ugly Betty, and Will & Grace. Her numerous accolades include a Critics’ Choice nomination for Penny Dreadful, a Grammy Award for the broadcast recording of PBS Great Performances Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, and an Emmy nomination for her guest appearance on Frasier. LuPone has also appeared often on the big screen with roles in films such as City by the Sea, Cliffs of Freedom, The Comedian, David Mamet’s Heist and State and Main, Driving Miss Daisy, Parker, Summer of Sam, Union Square, and Witness.

LuPone is a highly acclaimed stage actress. For her role in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy,  she won the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress in a Musical and the Drama League Award for Outstanding Performance of the Season. And for the 2005 Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, she won the Drama League Award for Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre as well as several nominations. Her prolific stage career includes appearances in Michael Frayn’s Noises Off, David Mamet’s The Anarchist and The Old Neighborhood, Terrence McNally's Master Class, Patti LuPone on Broadway, War Paint, a musical version of Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes at the Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Center Theater’s production of the musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, for which she was nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards. LuPone won the Olivier and What’sOnStage Awards for her performance in Marianne Elliott’s production of the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical Company in London’s West End. A graduate of the first class of the Drama Division of New York’s Juilliard School and a founding member of John Houseman's The Acting Company, LuPone is also the author of The New York Times bestseller, Patti LuPone: A Memoir.
